Goal #28 Surprise Jeff by Cleaning the Whole House

Does anyone think it is odd that this goal hasn't been accomplished yet, or even wonder why it is a goal at all?!

I have a theory that in every relationship one person is usually more on top of the household cleaning than the other. Jeff is definitely my Mr. Clean. When I hear the mail getting sorted in the kitchen... I know he is getting into his crazy cleaning mode. This is usually my cue to get up and start earning my keep before my own self inflicted guilt paralyzes me!

I love having a clean house and I take great pride in our little home. It is the first place I've lived since I left my mom and dad's house where someone could drop by unannounced and I wouldn't panic with embarrassment. My college house & city apartment weren't always in the best condition!

Oddly enough, that love and pride are rarely enough motivation for me to bust out the cleaning supplies and make every room sparkle and shine. Don't get me wrong, my mom taught me well and I can clean with the best of them. I'm just ridiculously slow getting out of the gate. I know it's pathetic, but it feels like a mental block or something.

Anyway, summer break provides me with fewer distractions (excuses) so it's the perfect time to accomplish this goal. I thought yesterday was going to be the day and I almost got everything done, but didn't finish the floors.... grrrr! What's my problem!?

  1. LOL! I am the same way! Booby is the cleaner and when he starts cleaning ( every sat. morning!)I try to pretend to be sleeping but one small movement and its over- I'm up with a swiffer in my hand. I always suggest since its so early lets go for breakfast but nope. You are a better woman than I - because I do not have that as a goal and I don't know when I will. (I will not be showing this to Bobby.) Nonetheless I think it is great what you did for Jeff. xoxo From Jayne
